Deal with members locally that you can meet in a general location to exchange items. This will eliminate the majority of scams on ModVenue.
Ask as many questions as possible before deciding to purchase an item. This will help ensure that the seller actually has the item and is knowledgeable about the items being sold.
If you do decide to have an item shipped to you, pay for it via Paypal.
Make sure that you contact the seller to make sure that the items is available before sending payment via Paypal.
Do not wire funds via Western Union, Money Gram, or any other wire transfer service. Anyone who accepts this as an only form of payment may be attempting to scam you.
If you do accept a cashier’s check, contact the financial institution in which the cashiers check was drawn to verify that it is legit.
Be cautious if dealing with individuals outside of the USA. While ModVenue is currently working on expanding outside of the US we are currently only supporting members located within the US.
If skeptical, simply do not buy from the seller. If you are skeptical on whether a seller has an item, have the seller take a picture of the item with his/her username, date, and time to verify the seller actually has the item.
Be wary if the seller only accepts wire transfers or cash.
Be wary of items that only have a stock photo.
Be wary of ads that contain spelling errors, grammatical errors, or inconsistent information
Be wary of any unsolicited private messages or comments requesting personal information.
Be wary of private messages or comments requiring you to provide your personal and/or banking information
When placing an ad, be as descriptive as possible. If you are selling a part list what year models the part will fit. If you do not know list the year make and model the part came off of.
Remember the old saying, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
